That's what my friend asked me as we were leaving our ACLS training. She was referencing my turquoise Longchamp bag and fitbit bracelet, and of course I answered, "so much." Because we all know its true. I should seek help. Jay knows this, but instead of sending me to mint rehab, he propagates my obsession by suggesting how great our gallery wall would look if the frames were mint. |
I know. Of course my reaction was *gasp* "MINT?!" A little too excitable. However, all excitement was dampened when I discovered the only way to get ahold of mint spray paint was to order it on amazon. Le sigh. Four very long days later I was able to take a frame for a test drive to make sure it wouldn't look crazy.
It was beauoooooootiful. Except in my excitement I forgot the very important step of sanding gently before painting. I paid for that when two of the frames bumped into each other and scratched themselves right back to black. Fail. So don't be impatient and forget things like me. Sand first.
I started off by just spraying the mint paint on them, but found when I used primer it brightened the color nicely.

They were feeling really heavy and dark before, so I love how airy they are now. Hanging them all straight again was a challenge. I may or may not have succeeded, you guys tell me.
To complete these I used two cans of white primer and one can of Krylon Catalina Mist. Actually I needed two cans of the Catalina Mist too, but only because of my mistake. Yes, I had to wait another four days. It was a struggs. But you won't have to because I already told you the secrets.

I was a little worried the mint would look funky next to our grey walls. If I was in charge of the universe a lot of this house would have new paint, but one of the joys of renting is we can't paint anything in our place. I think they look nice with the grey though, similar value, different hue.
Oh and you may have noticed our rock collection has changed around. Namely this new heart shaped guy on the end. He has a pretty good story that goes with and involves some other rocks. I'll be sharing that one in a few weeks.
